Episode 3

A Voice for the Voiceless: Speaking for Israeli Hostage Omer Shemtov

Welcome back to Beerocracy! This is the 3rd and final episode of the 3 part series exploring the Israel-Palestine conflict. The final episode focuses on hearing the story of Omer Shemtov, a 21 year old Israeli hostage still in captivity. He was taken from the Nova music festival along with his friends Maya and Itay Regev, who were released from captivity during the week-long hostage deal in November. Speaking for Omer, is Leat, his cousin, who has made it her mission since October 7th to advocate for bringing home Omer, and all the hostages.

Generally, a Beerocracy! episode has some jokes and a sharing on what we're drinking at the beginning. With such heavy topics, it doesn't feel right to make light of such a tragic situation, so there is no joking and no beer talk during this episode.

Hi! And welcome to my podcast! My name is Emily Gross and I started Beerocracy! to unite my passions of politics and comedy. I love the news and politics, but I got so tired with the stuffy dialogue that plagues the news cycle. So I decided to try something different and create something that I would want to listen to! I interview a leading expert on a current issue in the news cycle, we drink a beer, and hopefully educate you with a little bit of humor!
